What Is ChordPocket?
ChordPocket is an all-in-one guitar chord learning app. It combines a complete chord reference library, a timed flashcard drill, and a chord recognition quiz — everything a guitarist needs to learn, memorize, and test their chord knowledge, right in their pocket.
Features at a Glance
Chord Library — Browse Every Chord
The home screen is a full chord library covering all 12 musical keys across 9 chord types. Scroll through the grid, filter by chord type, and tap any chord to view a detailed fingering diagram.
- Filter by type: Major, Minor, 7th, maj7, m7, sus2, sus4, Diminished, Augmented
- Multiple voicings: Many chords have more than one fret position. Swipe through all available voicings for any chord.
- Favorites: Heart any chord to save it to your favorites list for quick access.
Flash Practice — Drill Chord Transitions
Pick a set of chords from the library, set a countdown timer, and let the app cycle through them one by one — full screen, high contrast, with an animated progress bar. A great way to build muscle memory and improve switching speed.
- Choose any combination of chords, group-select by type, or select all at once
- Set your own pace: 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, or 30 seconds per chord
- Shuffle mode for unpredictable practice order
- Pause, skip, or stop at any time
- Audio cue on each card flip
Quiz — Test Your Chord Recognition
See a chord diagram — name it. The quiz challenges you to identify chords from their fingering shapes alone, with four answer choices and a countdown timer per question. One wrong answer and it is game over.
- 4 difficulty tiers that unlock as you improve:
- Easy — Open-position chords only (C, G, D, E, A major and minor)
- Medium — All natural keys, major, minor, and dominant 7th
- Hard — All 12 keys, 7 chord types
- Expert — The full library — all 12 keys × all 9 chord types
- Automatically advances to the next tier after 5 consecutive correct answers
- Visual countdown bar changes color as time runs low
- Audio feedback: tick sounds, an urgent beep when time is almost up, chimes for correct answers, and a buzz for wrong ones
Favorites — Your Personal Chord Collection
Save any chord from the library to your favorites list. Access them all in one place from the Favorites tab — perfect for focusing practice on the chords you are currently learning.
